Training is performed on a needs basis and can be tailored to suit your exclusive requirements.
There is a range of training options and sessions available including:

Introduction
A 90 minute introduction to interRAI and assessment processes being used throughout Australia. It is designed to target staff such as executives and administrators who may be indirectly or directly involved with the assessment and implementation process.

Read only session
Learn how to read and interpret summary reports and scoring for the interRAI suite. This program is a 30 minute overview comprising of a basic introduction to interRAI, and a tutorial about the interRAI Scales and Clinical Assessment Protocols (CAPs) used for individual care planning and provision.

Assessors
An interactive 2 day training session designed for people who will be performing the interRAI assessments. Training includes a thorough overview of the interRAI methodology and relevant manual, along with a combination of slide shows, case studies and practice cases. Follow-up support is provided after the training session. Performance of 2 practice cases is a requirement to consolidate your knowledge. Certificates are awarded at the successful completion of the course. To ensure specialist attention is afforded to all attendees, class sizes are kept to a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 people. Assessor training can be performed by anyone with experience and an interest in clinical assessment.

Consultants and other clinicians
This training session is performed over 4 hours and provides a thorough introduction to interRAI methodology, Clinical Assessment Protocols (CAPs), and scales. The trainer will provide discussion points and practical application for both reading and reporting of assessments.

Train the Trainer
In certain instances it may be negotiated with RAIplus to perform ‘Trainer Training’.  This involves training one or several individuals to perform training at your organisation. The persons would need to:

  • complete initial assessor training
  • satisfactorily complete a minimum of 50 assessments (this number is at the discretion of the supervising RAIplus trainer)
  • maintain regular follow-up and contact with the supervising RAIplus trainer
  • prepare and complete a 2 day assessor training session supervised by a recognised RAIplus trainer
  • receive pre and post feedback and support from the RAIplus trainer
